Sponsorship Letter
« on: June 14, 2005, 02:51:14 PM »
Hi all,

As you know my GF (pittpanther) is about to send off for her visa (student).  I am sponsoring her for everything but the cost of the course.  So below is the letter I have written and I would very much like peoples opinions.

Andrea J Ashcraft, U. S. Citizen, DOB 19th Oct 1980
Dear Sir/Madam

I write this letter to confirm that I will be a sponsor to Andrea J Ashcraft while she completes her studies at University of Leeds.  The course of study runs from September 2005 to September 2006, however, she will arrive one month early to become familiar with the area and complete the required reading before classes begin.  She will leave the UK in July 2006 to return to her current employer; therefore my sponsorship of Miss Ashcraft will run from August 2005 to July 2006.  Miss Ashcraft will reside in my rented property (address above) which is currently on a one year rolling lease with Paramount Homes, the property is a two bedroom ground floor flat. With the exception of the course fee set by the University which will be covered by Andrea, her transportation, living and accommodation expenses will be undertaken entirely by me.  I have used the BUNAC tables to estimate an all-in incremental cost of £250 per month, which includes food, transport and any incidentals during Andrea’s stay.  Rent is not included in this figure due to there being no additional rent as a result of Andrea moving in with me.

I am a British citizen, passport number XXXXXXX98; I am employed by Communisis PLC, which is where I have worked for the last 5 1/2 years.  I have enclosed my most recent P60 and 3 consecutive bank statements demonstrating my capacity for sponsorship.  I have also attached a monthly budget that indicates my increased cost of living upon Andrea’s entry into the country and the commencement of the sponsorship.  If further evidence is required by yourselves of my financial position, you have my permission to access my tax history.

To assist you, I have below highlighted some key details of the documents I have enclosed with this letter of sponsorship.

  • Monthly Budget – This is a budget of my personal income and expenditure for the calendar year 2005.  As you can see from the spreadsheet I have factored in Andrea’s expenses beginning from August 2005.  In a four-week month this still leaves me with a personal living allowance of over £180 per week.  This allowance will cover food for the both of us and any other incidentals that arise, such as unforeseen expenses in connection with Andrea’s course of study.  My personal expenses for 2006 are not expected to change.
  • P60 – The P60 enclosed is from the tax year 2003-2004; at the time of writing this letter I have not received my 2004-2005 P60 notification.  My total salary indicated on the enclosed P60 includes a bonus payment made to me in March of 2004.  My expected, but not guaranteed, bonus payment has not been used in any calculations I have made for supporting Andrea for the duration of her course.
  • A Copy of my Tenancy Agreement – I have enclosed my tenancy agreement to show that my current landlord does not restrict who I invite to live with me.
  • A Letter From My Landlord – This details that my landlord has no objections to Andrea residing with me during her stay.
  • Bank Statements – My bank statements have been printed by the on-line banking facility available from HSBC.  The key items to point out on the statements are my salary and rent payments.  These can be found on the following dates on each statement.
  • March 05
Salary - 15th March £XXXX.42 (includes bonus payment).
    Rent Payment – 1st March £575.00.

    Feb 05
    Salary - 15th Feb £XXXX.03.
    Rent Payment – 1st Feb £575.00.

    Jan 05
    Salary - 14th Jan £XXXX.03.
    Rent Payment – 4th Jan £575.00.

    Dec 04
    Salary - 15th Dec £XXXX.03.
    Rent Payment – 1st Dec £575.00.

    Nov 04
    Salary - 15th Nov £XXXX.03.
    Rent Payment – 1st Nov £575.00.

    Oct 04
    Salary - 15th Oct £XXXX.87.
    Rent Payment – 1st Oct £575.00.

  • Sponsorship Declaration – This details my passport information and summarises this letter.

To explain the background to my relationship with Miss Ashcraft, we met at a work conference in October 2004 and since then we have become very close.  We have visited each other on numerous occasions and communicate on a daily basis via e-mail, instant messaging and phone.  Phone records showing such communication can be given if required.  It is Andrea’s intention to study in the UK for the duration of her course and then return to the US to continue working for General Services Administration (GSA); plans beyond this have not been made.

I hope you find these arrangements in order and can proceed with successfully processing the financial and accommodation aspects of Andrea's visa application.  If there is any further information I can provide you to support this application, please do not hesitate to contact me.  I can be contacted on any of the numbers above (primarily my mobile number) and my e-mail address which is also detailed above.

Yours Sincerely

Stephen Cousins[/i]

I also have the following questions

1) I wrote this letter back in march and so have only included statements upto that point, due to the delay in applying is it wise for me to send Andrea a new letter with bank statements right upto June.

2) I have no savings but I do have the facility to move some money around to make it look like I have savings.  Will the fact that I have savings actually help I don't want to go through the process of creating a false savings account if its not needed.  My earnings are in excess of £2,500 pcm so I have no problem in supporting Andrea.

Once again, thanks for your help

Steve

2) I have no savings but I do have the facility to move some money around to make it look like I have savings.  Will the fact that I have savings actually help I don't want to go through the process of creating a false savings account if its not needed.  My earnings are in excess of £2,500 pcm so I have no problem in supporting Andrea.
