Book swapping
« on: April 13, 2005, 05:07:56 PM »
I came across this web site a couple of weeks ago: www.readitswapit.co.uk.

It's a site where you list books you own and are willing to swap with other people. You can check out what other people have to offer and click if you see anything you'd like to swap with. Or, you can wait for someone to ask to swap with you.

I listed a bunch of my old books, but haven't had much luck ... I kept getting the same guy who only had stuff like The Omen and The Exorcist available. But today I made my first successful swap! So I just wanted to let the rest of you readers know about the site. It actually does work! Yaye!

That sounds cool!  Do you have to swap back, or you keep to swap again?

No, Stacey, once you've swapped with someone the book is yours to keep. It's a permanent trade. Or I guess you could post it on the site and hope someone else wants it!

OK, Hmmm, I usually take my books to the charity shop, but I could try this too!

We actually did start a book swap on UKY a while back ago. I'm not sure if it's just not worked out or if no one was interested at the time. I'll have to ask Leah. It may have well dissapeared when the new system was put in place. It was cool, though, you could list all the books you were prepared to lend out and you could see what others had. You could even browse books by genre and stuff like that.

Must see if I can find what happened to that.

Ah yes, I've found the library. It seems to be for Chartered Members. I've asked Leah if it's still in working order.

I'd love to do this if anyone else is interested. Even if the library doesn't work, we could always try to figure something out.

I'd definitely like to give it a try! I think the last time I checked out the library was way before I was a Charter Member, so maybe that's why I had problems. Should be OK now, though!  :)
