UK meds for kids free?

In another post it was stated that meds in the UK for kids are free, is this true? If so yet another reason to move over, not that my kids are ill that often, but my son has an ear infection now and the meds costed $87, due to him needing a special med that wasn't covered.

No idea on the meds for kids...but normally, my meds cost me only £6.50 for a two month supply (and that's for ANY med on NHS--as far as I know).  The kids thing makes sense though b/c meds for unemployed persons and OAPs are at no charge from the pharmacy.

16 and under, medicine is free of charge.

Also free for 16-18's still in school, some disabled, some JobSeekers etc.  Everyone else only pays £6.50 per prescription no matter what the medication is.
