Questions about moving cat back to the US
« on: February 06, 2006, 01:33:36 PM »
Does anyone know anything about moving a cat back to the US? Our year here is almost up, and I wonder if anyone knows what paperwork is required, whether we can fly back with the pet in the cabin, etc., before I start researching all the details.  He came over on a PETS certificate May 2005...

Thanks!
Aline

When we moved our cat from canada to the US, we only had to have an updated vaccine certificate and a statement from our vet saying the cat was healthy.  And then customs forms.  that was a long time ago though (8 years) so I'd check to be sure.   I think I got the information from the USDA website as well as the airline.  In anycase, it was very easy - NOT like bringing pets into the UK.

I wasn't able to find any airlines that would allow the cats to fly in the cabin to the US (that was probably because of the route we had to take), but as was stated, an up to date rabies vaccination (30 days prior to departure), a flight certificate from the vet no more than 10 days before flying and the proper crate for flying (we got ours thru http://www.airpets.com/containers_home.html )
