"Self employeed Visas"
« on: July 16, 2005, 03:49:54 AM »
Was reading through the forums and did not see this topic so I thought I would ask. I lived in the UK for over three and a half years, almost four in London on a student visa. I am partnering in a production company (filmmaking) here in the spring. I have plans to attend grad school next year but will also be part of this business. I was wondering basically where should I start snooping around for information on self-employment and owning your own company visas? I guess first I should ask is this something open to Americans in the United Kingdom.

Thank you so much in advance
Colleen

I'm afraid my level of expertise in this type of visa is not good.  But the Home Office website should tell you all you  need to know:

http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/

If you are coming over to be a grad student though, I would think it would be easier to use a student visa to come over.  You can work up to 20 hours on this type of visa.

Yes, of course it's open to merkins in the UK, and also to merkins not in the UK  ;D

The form to use depends upon where you are and what you want to switch in to...
