NHS Number?
« on: July 26, 2005, 08:09:54 PM »
Ok, my husband and I are filling out the thing to get me registered with a doctor (since I am preggers) and it asks for my "national health service number".  What?  This isn't my NI number, I know, because the spaces for it are not the same.  Jamie, who, of course, is from here, doesn't even know his own or what it's all about (it's been quite a while since he's had to go to the doctor).  So, I really need to get seen...u'm, what do I do?  Or, is this something that will just work itself out and leaving that section blank will be ok?

If you're not regsitered with a Doctor yet you won't have one. You'll proabbly be sent a NHS card once you regsiter and this will have your number on it.

By coincidence, I registered with a doctor this morning.  I have no NI number, because there is almost a month's wait for an appointment to get one.  So whatever it is, I left the National Health Service Number space blank.  Nobody at the doctor's office batted an eye.

I had a very pleasant health background interview with the doctor and then with the nurse.
