[SPLIT]: World Cup Qualifiers (was: new footie season)
« on: September 07, 2005, 11:02:26 PM »
OMG  :o

N Ireland stun England in Belfast

David Healy's strike gives Northern Ireland a stunning 1-0 victory in the World Cup qualifier.

... And Scotland BEAT Norway last night!  ;D

(but of course these international games dont belong on this thread, cos they're not part of 'the season'...)

Do you think you have a chance of making it through to the WC?

The ROI played a blinder against France in the first half -- not quite sure what happened to them in the second.  Shame tho -- I really do hope the Irish make it through to the WC.  They are a joy to watch.

Was that a beautiful thing or what.....and now Rooney has got himself booked for the next match.....tough kid with great instincts but not the sharpest knife in the drawer :P

Of course, the goal was scored AFTER I turned the channel, thinking, well, it's Ireland, innit?  So not really gonna be THAT exciting.
On TOP of the fact that I went and bought the Beckham kit (just was mocked at work for saying 'uniform'  :-X) yesterday afternoon for the JDRF walk on Sunday.
It was me.
I jinxed it.

My dismay at England's performance was tempered with my joy at this outcome!  Scotland not doing too bad, really!  Those goals were beautiful!!

Not really.
We've learned not to hope for too much.  :(

Aw, but that makes it all the more special when you do make it through!  Unlike some teams who feel it's their god-given right to qualify for everything.  ;)

One of those teams would'nt sport  3 Lions on their kit now would they? :P..........78 years since, only 3 premeirship players on the roster and a striker  that was cut by Man U  (nice one boyos).........hey even the Boston Red Sox get lucky once in awhile 8)....they may not qualify for the W.C but they were stars last night!!!!!!
