Going to Dublin-any recommendations on accommodation?
« on: August 06, 2005, 09:31:36 AM »
I am going to Dublin at the end of August for the bank holiday.  I usually stay in a bed and breakfast in the UK it seems like but I don't mind staying in a hotel.  I just want breakfast-the most important meal of the day.  And I am looking for something affordable of course.  But I have had some interesting stays in different places-so it would be nice this time if I stayed somewhere where someone has been before or knows that it is a safe, nice place.  I will only be staying for 3 nights.  Any recommendations?

I can only recommend not to text your mate to hold the plane.... ;D

seriously there are many B&Bs and hostels I went without prebooking...you have to check of course that there isn't a big event going to happen and tripple check that your booking is secure...I went with a mate to see REM in Dublin...we pre booked and when we got there our booking was not there..we had to trampse around dublin looking for anything that was available ...we finally found one that had one room and they certainly charged us because they had the only one available. The first time I went I stayed in a hostel for £8 a night and had yummy brekkie in Bettie's tea shop (I think that was the name)

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

You should be able to find some good and cheap accomodation in/near the "Temple Bar" area.  I'm forgot the name of the hotel I stayed at, but it was cheap, in a central location and there where cafes around doing good irish breakfasts.

We stayed at the Charles Stuart and found it very reasonable and clean.  The staff were friendly and helpful as well, and the bus from the airport dropped us off almost in front of the door.  It's on Parnell Square, just at the bottom end of O'Connell Street.  I think we booked through Smoothhound website, or something like that.

Have a good time!
Theresa
