Spouse Visa Questions...
« on: August 12, 2005, 10:04:33 AM »
Hello.  :)  I just finished my move to the UK last month and I entered on a fiance visa.  My lovely husband to be and I are now about to get married on October 22nd of this year.  We just had a discussion about what happens after the fiance visa, but in all honesty, neither of us knew exactly what was going to happen.  So, with that I thought I'd get unconsfused by asking the lovely people here a few questions.

Firstly, am I correct in thinking if one enters the UK on a fiance visa and then marries her partner in the UK that the visa holder can apply for a spousal visa without having to return to the states?

Finally, when can I apply for a spousal visa?  Do I have to wait until the six months end on my fiance visa, or am I able to apply as soon as I get my marriage certificate?

Any comments are greatly appreciated.  Thanks so much.  :D

You do not need to return to the US if you entered on a fiancee visa.  Get married, get your marriage certificate and then you can apply straight away.  No need to wait for your 6 months to be up.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

You dont apply for a spouse visa after you are married. You apply for a FLR (M) visa  and it can be found here http://www.ind.homeoffice.gov.uk/ind/en/home/applying/application_form.Maincontent.0081.file.tmp/FLR_M%20Form.pdf
You dont have to return to the states. You can either do it by post or in person
