Transportation Around Battersea??
« on: August 17, 2005, 06:52:16 AM »
I will be in London September 1st for 2 weeks and staying with a friend in Battersea.  I heard that there are no tube stops in this area.  Is anyone familiar with this area?  Are there good bus services?  Thanks.

There is an overground train that runs into Victoria and buses into the west end. The bus I'm familiar with is the 73 - it goes through Chelsea, Victoria, west end and on to north London (Islington).   I never caught the bus from there at peak times so can't say how reliable it is.

Hi,

By tube, go to either Sloane Square Station or South Kensington.  From Sloane Square, take a 137 bus (southwards) and this will take you over Chelsea Bridge to the eastern part of Battersea around Queenstown Road.

From South Kensington, take a 49 or 345 (southwards) and this will take you over Battersea Bridge to north and central Battersea and then on to Clapham Junction.

By bus, you can take a No19 the West end (Piccadilly Circus ) which will also take you over Battersea Bridge
. (A very interesting route)  Also a 237 from Victoria.

By overground train.  From  Waterloo to Queenstown Road (east Battersea) then Clapham Junction (south Battersea) From Victoria to Battersea Park (east Battersea) then Clapham Junction.

In general, tube/bus to north Battersea, and overground train to the south part towards Clapham Junction
