TV Licence & Moving Home?
« on: August 31, 2005, 04:34:33 PM »
I paid for my TV licence in June- in full.  I am now moving in October to a new home.  Can I transfer the licence with me?  Or do I have to cancel and then apply for a refund for the unused portion.  And then apply for a new licence at my new address?
If you harbour bitterness, happiness will dock elsewhere.

You just need to write or phone them and let them know you're moving.
They'll transfer the licence to the new address.

If you don't transfer (and assuming that the previous occupant of your new address either cancels or transfers a license), you will soon start receiving plenty of reminders from the TVLA folk in Bristol as their system flags the address as unlicensed and starts automatically sending out the usual stream of intimidating letters.    ;)

It's really easy to do online.  I did it as I had about 2 weeks left at my old place when my licence was up for renewal.  They'll send you a new licence to your new place.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…
