Moving UK fiance to the US...
« on: September 02, 2005, 05:05:10 PM »
OK! I really love these forums, I've gotten alot of helps so far when thinking about moving to the UK. But me and my UK fiance have decided to move to the states and seek our fortunes there.

He has a degree, will be living with my parents, who will be our sponsers.

I need a step by step on what I need to to fill out, weather I can take said visa to the consulate to maybe speed up the process by doing it in person, what paperwork I need for the visa, and the timeline I can expect before we can have the fiance Visa, and what I need to apply for once he comes, we get married. Like do we need to fill in change of status, visa to work, green card.

Basicly  I need a comprehensive run thrugh, most websites confuse me with legal lingo, So I'd rather talk my way through it, Q&A always makes me learn these things best.

We are deterimed to be togeather, and are gona work hard to make this work. Also what are the prospects for an educated Englishmen in america?

I haven't gone through this process, so I can't give you any personal advice on it. You may be able to find more specific information on these sites, as they are more geared towards moving to the US, rather than the UK.

I'm done moving. Unrepatriated back to the UK, here for good!

Just wanted to add one more, a great site that was started by a member on here, very friendly and helpful and there are a bunch of us over there (as well at the others Marlespo posted for you)

Dive Into America

I can't help with the Fiance process as I did DCF myself, but good luck, you will find all that you need at these sites.

DH came over the US on a K-1 visa,  can't write to much at work.  Remind me if I don't get back to you and you still need info.
