Bored with My office Job rite now..
« on: June 15, 2005, 01:38:17 PM »
I am so bored with my job rite now...there is not much going on in the office..it is a slow time of year...and in this office like many others that I have worked in, there is always not enough work to do ..it seems the higher pay that you get the more boring the work is and the less of it there is to do...it is driving me nuts...i have applied for a couple of other positions and have been thinking of a career change...

i need to stay in this job for the moment for financial reasons...but at times i get really fed up with not having enough to do...and its not because i don't ask for work to do...there is nothing for the other girls to do either... ;)

I don't know what line of work you're in, but I'm always wary of offices with bored people in them! If there's not enough work to go around, sooner or later the powers that be catch on and then ... layoffs! I'm not saying that'll be the case with your job, but you might be wise to think about moving on (whether it's a new career or simply a new job) before that happens.

There won't be any layoffs in this office believe me...I've worked in about 10 different offices during my working career and all have been pretty much the same...it seems you have to pretend that you are busy...

Yuck.  That's precisely the reason I left my last job.  Now I'm busy (except for when I'm on UKY  :P) and HAPPY!

I love being busy at work!  it makes the day fly by!

If I am bored I usually make things up to do.  Like new files, or straightening the office up etc.

Or I am on here :P

My last two career-type jobs were actually like that - they created the positions way before they were ready for them and I had next to nothing to do. My boss used to have me researching loads of hypothetical stuff just to keep me busy - I had files upon files of things I wanted to do but couldn't yet. It was horrid - the worst two jobs I've ever had. I just hate being bored!!! Use your time to find something new!  ;)

In my life, I've had two jobs without enough work to keep me busy. Both companies have since gone bust.

Sorry!! I didn't mean it that way!!! But, if you're not happy there (regardless of the future of the firm), it might be time to start testing the waters, anyway. If you work full-time, you probably spend more time at work than anywhere else -- you might as well be somewhere you like doing something you enjoy. Life's too short for boredom!

Well, hey! Take my work! Please! There's not enough hours in the day for us.  :P

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Can you ask for a promotion to a position of higher responsibility? It would mean less boredom and more £.
