Enzymes & GF/CF Diets

Has anyone tried any of the above?

Some of you know that my daughter Dagmar has developmental delays.  We've never gotten a straight answer as to what her "problem" is-the neurologist said, "Maybe it's autism, maybe not!  Let's throw a hell of a lot of therapy at her and see what happens!"  Which as you can imagine was just so freaking helpful.

Anyway.  I've been reading quite a lot lately about the gluten free/casein free diets and how lots of children with neurological problems benefit greatly from them-some so much that their "symptoms" disappear.  Also about dietary enzymes and how they can be used in conjunction with or even instead of gf/cf.  (Although I've only just started reading about the enzymes, so I don't know much about it yet.)

Has anyone else tried this, or knows someone who has?  Any opinions?  We plan to start it when we move, because then she will be out of school (where we seriously doubt they'll be willing to work with us on this) and home where we can really observe and track her eating and behavior.

While we have not personally tried a GF/CF diet I know of some that have had good results with it.  These were children that had been given a dignosis of ASD or SID.

I follow a strict gluten-free diet because I have celiac disease.  I have come across literature that suggests that a gluten-free diet is beneficial for autism.   

I'd be happy to suggest any gluten-free resources.  Cook Books, on-line food sources, recipes, etc.

Thanks for the encouragement, I really appreciate it.  The book on enzymes I ordered from Amazon should arrive today-we're very eager to get started! If Dagmar is on the spectrum, we've been assured time and time again that she is incredibly high-functioning-and she is-this makes us even more hopeful.  If even a slight improvement is seen in her, it might make the difference between "quirky" and "wierd" if you know what I mean.
