unless you two are related genetically speaking not similar as you maybe carrying different recessive traits

have a look at this:

But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

How many alleles is eye colour based on, though?  From what I understand, it's a bit more complex than say, blood type.  Is that so?

yeah, Courtney's explanation is better than any I could give. Although most times eye colour is predicted using the two allele explanation just because it's easier and requires less actual knowledge of genetics.

Was this to me?  I meant similar in how we'd fill in a internet quiz that only asked for six people's eye colour.  Obviously I know that we're not genetically similar.

We were hoping for a blue-eyed baby.  Stephen's Mum is the only brown-eyed one in her family, his Dad's are hazel, and my family are all blue.
Now we have one girl with topaz eyes, that look grey or green sometimes too, and one with pure brown with a little gold.   ;D  Which is just fine too!  I love brown eyes!

Didn't even consider the fact that my girls might have green eyes.  I've got blue eyes, as do both my parents and all of my siblings.  My ex has brown eyes, but his mother has blue eyes.  Both my girls are 'brownies', although elder dd (who has inherited her dad's olive complexion) has much darker eyes than her sister.
When I am grown-up I will understand how BEAUTIFUL it feels to administrate my life effectively.

Until then I will continue to TORCH all correspondence that bores me and to dance NAKED over the remnants of its still glowing embers.

I had my ex and his entire family looking at me funny when my oldest son was born with sky blue eyes and stayed that way for the first 2 years. ;D They're green now as are my youngest sons. I have light green eyes and their dad has brown eyes. Most of his (hispanic) family have brown eyes except for one or two with green eyes.

When I did that chart it showed my sons should have both been brown eyed or a possibility of blue eyes (my dad and brother have blue eyes) but they probably shouldn't have had green eyes. Weird.

I've got brown eyes and the ex has hazel.  My daughter's are blue-green.  The test said she had a 20% chance of having blue eyes, 30% green and 50% brown.

My eyes are dark brown.  My parents both have brown eyes.  My husband has blue ones and so does his mom.  This site said all our children would have a brown-eyed phenotype.
This is the same for me and I have 4 sons with very blue eyes.  ???
