We've changed our minds and now intend to fly to New York, spend a couple days there and take the train to Baltimore.  A friend in NYC has just had a baby so we're hoping to catch up with him!  Also, it's cheaper for the flights and train and from the sounds of it, some of the parks and whatnot will be shut down in Maine anyway.  Perhaps we'll have to make a trip in Spring or Autumn when the leaves fall.

I was surprised how cheap it is to fly to NY during that time of year, I definitely thought it'd be more.

NYC around Christmas time is soooo wonderful! You'll love it. Definitely go to Maine in Aug.-The first part of Oct.

I think Maine is out for us this time, NYC looks to be the definite choice.  I've been to NYC once or twice before in winter and Rockfeller Center and the skating and tree and all that is pretty cool.  Only thing is, DW can't get Dec 28 off now so we may have to shift our travel dates back 1 day.  Which is good because it's dirt cheap at £610 for both of us, but not so good because we'll have to fly out the night of Boxing Day!
