early labor?
« on: September 17, 2005, 04:16:29 AM »
My midwife is out of town until Monday so I'm unable to call her about this, But I think my muscus plug came out or is starting to come out because each time I used the loo today there was a pinkish color. I've read this is a sign of going into labor soon. Anyone know anything about this?  :-\\\\

It's possible. I started to lose my "plug" with my sons about 4-5 weeks before the birth. Unless you have a gush of water then its nothing to worry about. See what your midwife has to say.
Getting close now!! :)

I had quite a bit of that in my 3rd trimestre and it was nothing but you should get it checked out. Call the labour ward at your hospital if your midwife is away, you can speak to a midwife there. The number should be on the front of your notes.  They will probably advise you to go in and get checked out.

As Pebbles pointed out, this is not an indication that labour is just round the corner.

It's also entirely possible to be over 1cm dilated before going into labour at all.

Give them a phone, but for the most part it's not worrisome unless you start losing bright red blood, the water breaks or you experience contractions as well.

Unfortunately, it's possible to have geniune contractions and not be in labour.

I lost my mucus plug (that's such a gross term  :P) in the morning, went into labor that night and had my son by the next afternoon. I think everyone has given you good advice though, check with a nurse as I am sure it's not an indication of impending labor for all women. So exciting though, not much time left until your little girl is here!  :)
