Sewing in the UK
« on: October 08, 2005, 12:55:58 PM »
Hey ya'll,  I'll be moving over to the UK (Liverpool) for a year or two next September (2006).  I LOVE to sew but I am using my mom's machine until I can get a nice one for myself -- and she won't let me have it for that long   :)  I was reading through a few posts (specifically the one about Halloween) and saw there are quite a few people who enjoy playing with fabrics.  I was wondering if I would be able to rent a sewing machine while I'm over there?  Or am I going to have to buy one, only to sell it when I come back to the states?

you can buy a cheap one from Argos it will probably cost you just as much as renting one. I got 2 sewing machines from Loot both cost me less that £50 for them you can even get one from Ebay.co.uk and then Ebay it back when it's time to move.
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Hey JenBau--

Don't overlook the possibility of finding one used locally... I saw a Pfaff advertised in my local classifieds for £20 a week or so ago.

shelbel, I'll keep that in mind.  Ben and I will be coming over hopefully in the spring to scout out neighborhoods and possibly secure a place to live come September.  I may be able to look around then.
