Rice cookers

Can you buy electric rice cookers in the UK?  Everything around here is boiled rice and I miss cooking my sticky rice!

Sure.  Argos has them.  So do most Asian food markets I've been in - there are two of them in Leith Walk alone that carry them.  And sticky rice as well!  :D

Argos sell the basic rice cookers - like everyone here has mentioned as do Currys and Comet.

If you can get to a Chinese grocery store, the have the more expensive ones that keep the rice warm.

(can you guess what I've been looking at for a Chrismas pressie??   :P)

I went to an Asian grocery store today and was surprised at how much more expensive the rice cookers were there compared to Argos!  :o  All of the Asian grocery stores near where I lived in the US always had the cheapest rice cookers.  This one at Argos says that it has a warm function:  http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/4224765.htm

Maybe this is just my personal experience, but Cookworks stuff breaks readily.  With small appliances, I've found that you get what you pay for in the UK.  Have you tried Amazon.co.uk?  They might be more competitive price-wise - I won't say 'cheap' or 'inexpensive' b/c I've lived here long enough to know that that equates to. ;)

Thanks.  I'm not familiar with the brand.  Argos also has a Breville and two Tefals.  Amazon.co.uk has the same, and a Kenwood one.  Prices do seem pretty comparable.  I'll do a little more poking around!

Breville and Tefal are nice.  Kenwood is very nice.
