Anne Rice goes from vampires....
« on: November 29, 2005, 10:48:18 AM »
to the gospels??? Anybody else hear about this. Apparently, she's become religious, and says she will only write for God now. I'd be curious to check out her new book, just to see what it's like. I did like her other works....However, I didn't know she wrote books about sex, dominance, and s&m!!! Those I have NOT read.. :-X

I heard this a few days ago. I read most of her stuff a long time ago including the Sleeping Beauty series. It was, errrr, interesting! Not my cup of tea.  ;D

When I heard about this a couple weeks ago, I wasn't quite sure what to make of it.  But if it makes her happy - more power to her.  It's not going to really affect me seeing that I haven't read anything she's written since Memnoch the Devil (which turned me off of her completely :P ).

I think it's in "Blood Canticle" that she has Lestat chew out all the fans that quit reading after Memnoch. . . it was rather amusing- but it was a STRANGE book. . . . (not that they all aren't, actually. . . )

Really?  That is kind of funny.  But Memnoch was so horrible - I had to force myself to finish it.  Honestly, the first three were amazing books.  After that it became all about the Cult of Lestat, which I never really bought into.  I liked so many of the other characters better than him.  Hell, I liked whiny Louis better than him!  ::)

Sorry... not trying to get so off topic.

Should be interesting indeed.  I say good for her!

I would have to agree with you there, Liza (don't faint).  She's gone through a LOT in her life - losing a child, alcoholism, losing a husband, etc.  Glad she's found some peace in this life.

She's had some serious setbacks in life.  It sounds like she's found what she was seeking.

It really sounds as though she's wrestled with a lot- and taken it upon herself to research all she could.
I'm happy for her. . .

Wow.....I hadn't heard about this one.  How strange for someone to go from such macab gross stories to writing about God.....but I guess that it's a good thing to happen to anyone.  Good for her!

I, too, loved all her early books....but the last few were so very strange and gross, I simply lost interest. [smiley=book.gif]

Cool, good for her. The next book sounds really interesting; I think I may check it out.  8)

Let's take our wigs off in the shopi aisle and fight it out.

I have to say, the passage where Lestat makes Louis into a vampire is among the most erotic things I have ever read . . . and yet there's no sex.
