Moving with Kid
« on: November 06, 2005, 01:12:43 AM »
When I lived in UK for two years, when I came back I only said the words "mum" "car park" things like that but didn't have an accent. No kids then.

Well I'm moving to Newcastle in 2006 and I"m bringing my 7 year old daughter with me. This should be interesting. I was wondering how long it would take before I would be the only "American" speaking person in the household LOL

Can I get tips and suggestions on how to help my daughter adjust better over there?

Kirsten

I'm in the same boat or possibly in the same boat.  My husband will be interviewing in Newcastle later this month and I'm hoping we'll know something soon after.  We have a 6 year old girl so I'm also searching for how to help her adjust if we do infact make the move.  I'll keep up with this track and hopefully get some hints, but if you search on Newcastle in this forum, you can find some really helpful info. on neighborhoods, not so much schools which I'm interesting in learning about, but definitely, it sounds like a wonderful pretty city with good transport (as we won't have a car) and I'll be anxious to know what my husband's impressions.  Please pm if you like.  Andrea
