yeah, it was Virgin via Sprint...its not exactly a new model either, i read that older models are automaticaly unlocked or something but nope :/
Just went through this. Sprint doesn’t use SIM cards, so if you’ve purchased your phone through them, you won’t be able to unlock it to transfer it to a UK carrier. Verizon does though, so you’d be okay there. Alternatively, if you buy the phone outright from Apple or Best Buy or something, you can ask them to make sure they unlock it and give you a SIM card ready model. Same is true for androids-we just bought ‘em outright in the US and then had our choice of carriers in UK. Helps to get round the lack of UK credit issue too, since no UK carriers would give us anything other than a month to month.
