Oh boy oh boy oh boy!!!!

My ex is in BIGGGGG trouble

I filed 5 years of back tax returns recently and I have put the girls down as dependents

Well I had to call the IRS tonight and ask them about my name as DH put my married name down instead of my old name...

and thought I would mention about my ex claiming on his returns for the last 7 years he has been claiming the girls and getting the child tax credit....apparently since I have sole custody it is FRAUD!!!!

he may owe over $25,000.00 OH BOY!!!

ROTFL- Are you happy-dancing about at the moment, or just sitting, chuckling and rubbing your hands together wickedly at the thought of his downfall? Cause I'd be hard pressed to decide which to do.

things always come back to bite you.  glad you're helping your ex learn this!

Lying about dependants is one of the biggest fraud items the IRS had each year.  That's the reason why they require SSNs for kids on a return - to catch just this sort of problem.

If you really want to gloat, why not file Form 211 - Application For Reward For Original Information?  You can get as much as 15% of the money collected from your ex as a reward for reporting him to the authorities!  Your actual reward may be smaller, as they would have caught him eventually anyways.

Didn't it raise red flags in the IRS office when they'd seen your childrens name and social security number on both yours and his filings????

i knew a gal whose ex was doing that.  he lived in another state  & her first clue he was doing that was when she was audited. :(
