How do I "detox"?
« on: December 11, 2005, 11:44:43 AM »
I really, really overdid it this weekend, and I feel awful.  :( :( :(

I keep reading about detoxing in magazines, and I'd like to try it, but I'm not sure how. Can anyone help?

Drink lots of water and eat light meals comprised of whole grains and fresh, steamed or sauted vegetables, with SMALL portions of protein. Keep everything very light and eat six small meals during the day rather than 3 heavier ones. Drink water, water and more water. Avoid all sources of caffeine. No coffee or colas.  If you want a hot drink, use herbal teas or light broth, such as consomme or bovril. Do this for a day or two and you will feel much better.

Thanks for the tips Carla. I'll miss my coffee, but I feel so bad I'm willing to try anything.  :-\\\\

you might think its crazy, but I try and do the lemonade detox every couple months.  First time I tried it I made it to five days.  I cannot tell you how good my body felt and how clear my skin was.  I had energy I didnt think I could have not eating.  Its VERY HARD.  If you decide to try it, try 3 days to start.  Check out this link.....

Its been around for YEARS.  Dont forget the tea at night.  Can you buy grade A maple syrup there???

I've never heard of the Lemonade Diet but sounds like something I could try. I have done 3 day juice fasts in the past where I have had nothing but organic juices. They always leave me feeling remarkably fresh and light and I am always surprised at how NOT hungry you are. I've been overindulging myself. Perhaps this is one to try. Thanks for the link! :)

Try squeezing the juice from half a lemon into a cup of hot water, then sip .....it'll flush your liver and kidneys quite nicely.

Thank you!!!! Wow, some great tips!  :) I forgot I even posted this. I really should try a juice fast soon, that sounds great --- but probably best not to do it now, when I'm working on final projects!!  :D I need all the focus I can get.

By the way, I tried the detox tips on Sunday when I was recovering and by the end of the day I felt normal.  :)
