rental cars
« on: November 29, 2005, 03:49:53 PM »
Hi All,

Can anyone suggest a relatively cheap place to rent cars from in the Maidenhead/Marlow area preferably? I've always found that renting cars anywhere in Europe is an expensive hassle. I got a quote from Thrifty but I feel that £44 a day for a car which is smaller than my dishwasher is a bit steep.

Thanks!

Enterprise Rent a Car and Budget are both in High Wycombe just up the road from Marlow and also in Slough and Reading I believe.  There doesn't seem to be much of anything in Marlow or Maidenhead.

You can get an intermediate sized car for a Friday-Monday weekend for about £55 from Enterprise or £75 from Budget (I put in Dec 9-12 as an example).  I think you avoid Premium Surcharges by not renting from an airport as well.

Shop online. I seem to remember we rented a car for 90 quid for a week from Budget last year. With them it didn't matter where you picked it up (we picked it up at Stansted airport), but I do know that some rentals charget more if you arrange to pick the car up or drop it off at an airport.

I rented a Mercedes A Class for the whole month of May from Europecar for about 500 Pounds, I went through AAA in the states, who goes through Europcar... I thought I got a great deal for a rental.
