PLEASE STAY ALERT INFORM Family and Friends

A friend stopped at a pay-at-the-pump petrol station to get fuel. Once
she filled her petrol tank and after paying at the pump and starting to
leave, the voice of the attendant inside came over the speaker. He told
her that something happened with her card and that she needed to come
inside to pay. The lady was confused because the transaction showed
complete and approved. She relayed that to him and was getting ready to
leave but the attendant, once again, urged her to come in to pay or
there'd be trouble.

She proceeded to go inside and started arguing with the attendant about
his threat. He told her to calm down and listen carefully: He said that
while she was filling her car, a guy slipped into the back seat of her
car on the other side and the attendant had already called the police.
She became frightened and looked out in time to see her car door open
and the guy slip out.

The report is that the new gang initiation thing is to bring back a
woman and/or her car. One way they are doing this is crawling under
girls / women's cars while they're filling with petrol or at stores in
at night-time. The other way is slipping into unattended cars and
kidnapping the women.

Please pass this on to other women, young and old alike. Be extra
careful going to and from your car at night. If at all possible, don't
go alone! This is real!!,

This alert has originated from a London company who had the woman
involved in the above instance. The message:

1. ALWAYS lock your car doors, even if you're gone for just a second! 2.
Check underneath your car when approaching it for re-entry, and check in
the back before getting in. 3. Always be aware of your surroundings and
of other individuals in your general vicinity, particularly at night!

Send this to everyone so your friends can take precaution.

Peedal, this is a great warning.  I've been hearing these stories on and off for years.  It went around here about two years ago.  It's virtually the same one.  While I think its like an urban myth, it sure is an important one for women and the men that love them to always always keep in mind.  Especially at this more frantic time of year.  Please please be alert ladies.

Another warning (one which I know to be true) regarding pumping petrol...

Do NOT use your mobile phone while filling up!  The electric current from the phone can create a firestorm with vapors from the petrol.  Also, try not to go back inside the car while filling.  If you must go inside the car, make sure to touch something metal on your way out (like a car door handle) to discharge any built up static electricity.  If you touch the petrol pump, you can discharge static electricity, and again, with the petrol vapors, WHOOSH, you could end up a fireball.  EEK!

Buster I saw the same thing on a local news station about two week ago!  I never would have thought of this.  How weird.

They were showing video footage recently on the news of people catching fire from static electricity when they were putting gas in their car. I thought about it yesterday when I got out of my car to fill up and shocked the cr@p out of myself on my car door. It made a huge popping sound and I could see the spark. Good thing I wasn't anywhere near the gas tank yet. :-/

I'm still trying to figure out why it is I get shocked more than anyone I know. They had to remove the rug from my office because every time I was standing on it and touched a printer or file cabinet it would shock me really bad.

And for the women being careful at gas stations...it's a very good warning even if it is an urban legend. I didn't have someone crawl under or inside my car but when I was 17 I was attacked in a gas station parking lot in broad daylight. I was walking back to my car from buying a coke and a guy walked up and asked me what time it was and I told him. Then he said something about my hair being pretty or something (which really creeped me out) and the next thing I know as I opened the door to get in my car he pushed me into my car, I fell back across the front seats and he tried to jump in. Instinct kicked in and I just started kicking the cr@p out of the guy. He lost his balance and fell back and I grabbed the door and slammed and locked it and scrambled into the driver's seat and took off. The stupid thing is I didn't report it. I thought I'd somehow asked for it by stopping to tell him the time. So I was embarrassed to tell anyone. No telling if he ever did that to anyone else.
