name change before or after FLR?

Hi!  Have been in England since Sept, and just got married Nov 5!    Read about the new regs regarding amending passports (that they won't do it anymore due to heightened security).  My question is this.  Since I need to get a new passport when I change my name, should I get my new passport first, and then apply for my FLR?  I wasn't sure what the FLR was (stamp, or like my fiance visa), and I thought it might alieviate needing two passports (one w/ flr and new one w/ new name).

My finace visa is good until Feb 2006, and I'm not in a rush to be eligible to work.  So time-wise, I do have the time to get my new passport first.  But since FLR is crucial to me (moreso than changing my name) I wanted to know from those who've gone through the process what they recommend.  I'll be mailing my application for my FLR.

I got the FLR in my maiden name and I'm first dealing with the legal name change now, after almost 6 months of marriage.

It was more important for me to be able to work as soon as possible. I waited till I had a permanent full-time job and my National Insurance card before I started the name change process.

I'm not going to bother to change my name on my passport till it's time for me to apply for ILR.

Even if I didn't need the job, I think I would be too nervous to wait for my new passport instead of getting FLR right away. I'd want to get the FLR as soon as I could.  But I'm neurotic.

Thanks for the advise on what you have done.  I think I will go the same route.  I would really like to have a picture id with my new name and signature on it, but for now I can deal with having things in my maiden name.  After all, I can always prove that I'm married now.  And from reading other posts, it's not really such a big deal as long as you buy your airplane tickets in the correct name and file your taxes with the correct name, blah blah blah.  I'll just need to keep it all straight (who I've changed my name with).

I changed my name first, but that is only because I had a registry wedding first in my town in the UK then went back to NY for a few months for the big wedding there.  My FLR was still issued in my maiden name.  I'm not sure why to be honest.
