Applying for the HSMP
« on: November 01, 2003, 11:57:35 PM »
Hi all,

I am working in the USA and will be relocating to the UK soon through my company. I was considering applying for the HSMP instead of a regular work permit because that will give me more flexibility if I need to look for another job in the UK. The website says that I need to send all of my docs (originals) directly to the UK and I would rather  not part with my original passports and documents.

Can anyone who has applied for this route advise me on what documents were required and where they were sent?

thanks
rvish

Passport u can send xerox and notarized/certified copy but for other documents u have to send originals. there is no other way.
If u send xerox copies of docuemnts they may ask u again for originals, which will delay ur process. As I know from various resources sending original docs is not soo risky. People have done it without any errors

Cheers
Ajay

Hi Ajay,
Thanks for replying. Are you already working in UK?

A couple of followup questions. So I would send all of my documents directly to the Work Permits office right? My degree certificates, any employment certificates etc. When you got yours done, did you do it yourself or go through an attorney?

My other question...If I do enter the UK on a work permit, can I then change to the HSMP once I am in the UK?

thanks.

Hi Rav,
I haven't applied yet. I'll be applying in the December.
And i'm not working in UK.
All the information i got about HSMP is from web and my friends

Yes except Passport you can send all documents in original.
Your degree certs. ur employement references or any other documents u have to send originals

And u don't need to have any attorney for any purpose, they just make hole in pocket.

Any further info u want is available on web search it.

once u got HSMP then u don't need work permit at all.

cheers
Ajay
