the Picadilly (tube) line goes to Heathrow, but don't look for cheap parking in the area.
Grab a  train from where ever you are   to one of the big terminals and switch to the tubes.
There's tube/train maps in pdf on the transport for london site.

I would have thought anything around Heathrow would be expensive as, of course, everyone is looking to park to catch flights.
Your best bet might be to go somewhere west of London, such as Maidenhead and catch the train into somewhere like Hayes & Harlingen where you can change to a train bound for Heathrow.  If you are flying out of Heathrow, though, you may not be able to park for multiple days or it might
be very expensive.

cheap parking near Heathrow?

As I've found with most big cities, I think cheap parking and big city is an oxy moron unfortunately.

I live 90 miles from Heathrow. When we go we just park at short term parking. I find it way too inconvenient to schlepp heavy bags on the tube! Besides when you figure the cost of each tube ticket per person you may as well just pay for airport parking and save the London congestion charge, cost of parking in London, and the hassle of it all. Park at the airport!

I know there's a coach from Reading to Heathrow and it's fairly inexpensive ( ~ £13 r/t?) Right to the terminals and lots of space for luggage and usually almost empty.  It's what I usually use when going to Heathrow.
I know I'm late - where's the booze?

if you don't want to take a train from where you are, you could drive to an area near a tube station and go from there. I don't think you'd find much parking near Euston station or Kings Cross, so something a bit farther out would probably be of help. You can try this site: http://www.transportdirect.info or the transport for london website http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/ to get ideas, but unless your friend will have baggage that you need to transport, I  wouldn't drive to Heathrow.

Imagine my surprise.
I actually found a government website that had some useful information!
http://www.tfl.gov.uk/tube/using/getting-around/parking.asp

It shows all the carparks at tubestations round London with number of spaces & cost.

We drove round the M25 a couple of junctions & parked at Chalfont & Latimer for £2.20 for the day.

Rickmansworth was closer but had half the spaces & all the traffic was going that way, so we didn't try it.
These are small... those are far away.

The coach is RailAir that leaves from the station to and from Heathrow. £18 return, a day return may be cheaper probably closer to what twisted quoted. Very frequent service. It doesn't stop at Terminal 4 though. You would have to get off at Terminal 1 and take the airport subway - Heathrow express, I think its called? to Terminal 4. It does stop at Terminals 2 and 3....just not 4.

Guess im a bit too late for this thread!

but for future reference to all on the site...  2 simple solutions

1. Park at my house, nice and safe and secure, jump on the train and yer in Paddington in 22 minutes. Nice easy day rate of £10 to park in my driveway ! :)

2. Drive into Hounslow West, park in one of the sidestreets and walk to the tube stop and bob's yer uncle!

:)

Cheers ! Dennis! West London (Slough) UK!
