Please help with Spousal Visa Info
« on: January 04, 2006, 12:11:33 AM »
Hi there,

Please could anyone help me and my fiance.
He is from NY and i am in the UK
We plan to marry in vegas sometime this year then go back to NY to apply for the spousal visa for him to rerurn to the UK with me.
Our main concern right now is the part in the application about public funds and bank statements.
I am a single mother of 4 boys and i rely on public funds right now, my youngest is 3 and makes it hard for me to work.
To help our application, I am looking for work but i needed to know about the part where they ask for bank statements.
Dave has never had a bank account and cashes his pay cheque the day he gets it.
So as you may be able to tell, he has no savings.
I have a bank account but my statements show that i receive Income Support.
We need to know why statements are so important and does he really need to open a bank account and how long does he have to have it and does there have to be a certain ammount in the bank before we can apply for the visa.

You need to be able to prove that your fiance can afford to live in the UK without the need for him to claim public funds.  The fact that you are on Income Support is not a problem as long as this will not need to be increased once he comes to stay with you.  However, if neither of you have savings, and you only have a minimal income, the Home Office will want to know how he is going to afford to stay here.
