Football for an 11 Year old - help!!

My 11 year old son is looking for a place to play football.  He has been playing on a division one side which has turned out to be a disaster (well intentioned volunteer coach whose abilities are surpassed by the level of play) we want to get him into the academy system - to match the premier level of soccer he played in SoCal (we just moved here last summer).  He wants to be a footballer and has the mental focus to do it (his skills are pretty good as well!) How do we navigate this system?

...depending on where you live you shoul be able to find a fairly high calibre side to suit - alternatively just contact the FA at Soho Square in London and they'll direct or instruct you on how to get him into a 'big name' academy. Named club academies are constantly having trials.
