Hufu (human flesh alternative)
« on: January 13, 2006, 12:29:55 PM »
I wasn't sure where to put this. I don't really find it funny and I found the thought of it so repulsive I couldn't bring myself to put it under Food Talk!

Okay, so Hufu is supposed to be like Tofu...only, it's supposedly designed to have the texture and taste of human flesh.

Has anyone ever heard of this? I actually saw it on The Daily Show. It sounded so outrageous that I had to look it up. When I came across the website I started to think the whole thing was a joke but it's not. The website is obviously trying to have some fun with it and to sell it as some sort of novelty item but gross!!!

I think I'm a pretty open-minded person who doesn't offend easily but I find this incredibly disturbing. I found The Daily Show segment to be funny even though I was still disturbed by the idea but after reading the website I am pretty grossed out.

Anyone else heard of this? Am I overreacting to something that's supposed to be funny? This is a real product that you can purchase.

The Daily Show segment (the one titled "Flesh in the Pan") which is funny as always: http://www.comedycentral.com/shows/the_daily_show/videos/samantha_bee/index.jhtml

I saw it on The Daily Show, too! BLEEECCCHHH!!!! I don't even eat red meat, so I was really repulsed by it! I imagine a few people will buy it, but only as a sort of joke or novelty thing.
