Toddler shoe sizes
« on: January 15, 2006, 04:12:33 PM »
I know that women's shoes are sized differently here than in the US.  Are toddler shoes sized differently?  When we moved, my daughter was wearing size 7 shoes that I bought in the US.  She started complaining that they hurt her toes, so I had her measured in a shoe store here.  They said that she measured at a 6 1/2, but that I could buy size 7s.  Any ideas?

yes, they are about a size different.  US sizes are bigger.

The 2 biggest brands here, Clarks and Start Rite, aren't even the same.  I can't remember which way round it is now but there's a good half size between them in the toddler ranges.

Start Right is about half a size bigger than Clarks.

Start Rite also makes narrower widths than Clark's.  Aillidh has a 'D' width foot.  Kickers and Start Rite are the only brands that fit her properly.   :\\\'(

Thanks for the responses.  This is just annoying!  I can understand the difference in women's sizes, because the numbers are totally different.  But to have the sizes in toddler's shoes so close....  ::)

That is good information to know as our oldest has a narrow foot with an even narrower heel.  She should (hopefully) be getting her orthotics soon and I am going to have to find a pair of shoes that she can wear with them.
I've been taking her to Clarks, but I'll give Start Rite a go.
thanks Expat!!
