Superbowl parties anywhere nearby?
« on: January 23, 2006, 02:37:02 PM »
Hi all!
I've settled in nicely in Milton Keynes over the last 7 weeks. Waves of homesickness come and go, but I am very happy to be here with my sweetie and looking forward to our wedding in the Spring. I was wondering if ANYBODY has Superbowl parties? It's just odd that I don't have 5-6 house parties and countless bars to choose from like I did at home. Anybody know of a pub in the Milton Keynes area catering to misfits like me?
Thanks!
Lori-Anne

there was a yahoo group that did a party last year perhaps check in yahoo groups.

honestly I soo glad there aren't any Superbowl stuff bombarding the airways.

I'm a rugby fan myself ;D
But never fear, gentlemen; castration was really not the point of feminism, and we women are too busy eviscerating one another to take you on.

Not sure, but you may be out of luck as kick off wouldn't be until like 11pm.  I think that the Sports Cafe in London would have the game on, but not sure how late even they would stay open on a Sunday.  I say host your own party!!!  Invite all your fiance's friends and serve all sorts of American junk food.  That's what I did for 4th of July.  Burgers and dogs!  And a rainy english summer day : )

Edited to add website, looks like The Sports Cafe is open and planning something.

I copied this from elsewhere

The Manchester Titans American Football Team will be hosting the Superbowl Party at Sports Cafe, Quay Street, Manchester on Sunday Feb 5th. Festivities begin at 8pm, with the bar staying open untill 5am!

As well as screening the big game on giant screens throughout the venue, there will be deals on drinks, a DJ, a half-time performance from the Salford Sirens Cheerleaders and the Titans' raffle draw for the Manchester to JFK return air tickets, courtesy of British Airways.

The Titans will of course be in attendance!

Try the local sports bar. Alternately, you can come down to London (see above).

Well, the game's over. Who was everyone rooting for? I was hoping the Seahawks, the big underdogs, would win. And the Rolling Stones sucked during halftime.

For the longest time we were waiting for the
underdog Seahawks to get in the Superbowl.
Could they do it while I was still in the States?
Knowing my luck I should have guessed no!
The game was all right, though, even if
all the luck in the world wouldn't have won that
rally for them! Oh well, I'm sure they'll get in . . .
dreaming, anyway, can't hurt, right?

I know I'm late - where's the booze?
