Shipping one cubic meter
« on: November 21, 2003, 08:26:50 PM »
I am trying to get quotes for moving up to one cubic yard (or meter) of stuff from Virginia to the London area as part of my move.  No furniture, just boxes filled with clothes, books, etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

It can come by ship or air.

Thanks!

From what I remember, most shipping companies have a minimum of cubic feet so that wouldn't help you and I think regular UPS type things may be too expensive.

Have you considered just taking extra luggage for it all?  When I emigrated, my husband-to-be came over with just a carry on bag for the purpose that i could use up his luggage allowance for the move of my treasured items and clothes (in case my boat sank with all my stuff on it!). Check with the airlines to see what their charges are for going overweight or extra bags. May be worthwhile, I don't know how expensive or inexpensive it is.  ???
