Hello once again,
My partner and I are in the home stretch with the proposed CP visa. He went to HSBC and got copies of his bank statements dating back 6 months, so that is now out of the way. The only thing that is concerning me, now, is the UK lease. I am beginning to see some of the negative drawbacks to the UK when it comes doing business at times.
My partner's roommate is the lease holder, which is not the problem since he agreed to provide a letter and copy of the lease. My partner's rooommate has been renting the flat for 3 years now and the contract given to him when he first began renting was a 12 month contract. According to my partner, his roommate is still the lease holder even though there is no current 12 month lease in place and that the landlord does not necessarily have to draw up a new lease each year. I am not sure how it works in the UK regarding this, but if anyone knows, feel free to jump in.
What my partner and his roommate agreed to do was have my partner added to the lease because it would be easier for me when I go to the consulate in NYC next week. The problem is they cannot get a hold of the landlord and have been leaving message after message on his mobile and at his office with no luck (apparently, they have been trying to get a hold of him for another matter for months now with no luck). If they are unable to get a hold of him, would the original 12 month contract along with a letter from my partner's roommate giving consent to my staying there be enough for the consulate, or will I need a letter from their landlord/rental agent? This is the only thing that will hold our application up if it cannot be resolved in a timely manner and it is driving me mad knowing that I am at the mercy of someone else. :\\\'(
