Yeah I was asked that a lot too. We STILL get asked if Ethan was planned. Hello, we are not exactly teenagers and we are married it is fairly likely we planned him.

It's completey inappropriate to ask such a question but here's one that's worse. When we found out we were preg with Jack, I told my next door neighbor Dawn. Well a few days later her husband saw Frank outside and went up to him and said "congratulations, is this what you wanted?" Now WHAT kind of question is that???   :o

OMG!  What kind of an awful question is that?  <giggles> Frank should have said "Well, we were hoping for a puppy, but beggars can't be choosers."  ;D

Wow, I don't recall ever hearing anyone ask that question. How rude! Ranks right up there with random strangers giving you parenting advice in the line at the grocery store! Annoying!!!!  ::)

Another question you should never ask: "When are you due?" Not unless you're absolutely certain the woman is pregnant!   [smiley=oops.gif]

I did that once when I was very young.  I've never felt so bad about something in my entire life. :-[

I hate when people ask Why don't you have a baby yet!!!  There are plenty of people out there who have a lot of trouble conceiving and it can be very painful!
I hate that so, SO much.  I got that a lot during my former marriage...and I would just say to them, point blank, "I can't have kids."  That shut them up quite quickly.

It doesn't bother me that it's very risky and unadvisable for me to carry children.  I don't want any kids anyway, but man did I ever LOVE putting those nosey people in their place!  And hopefully it kept them from asking the same question to some poor couple who actually WANTS kids but can't have them (I can dream, right?).

I would never ask someone if a pregnancy was planned unless it was my sisters!  Well, considering they're both still at uni and unmarried it'd be pretty fair to guess that it wasn't planned, so I wouldn't have to ask even then.

One thing that happened to me when I got married the first time was people asking me on the wedding day if I was pregant.  Seriously, why?!   ???  Some people just have no tact.   :-\\\\

I think that *no* question about someone else's reproductive system is ever appropriate. Chalk it up to the asker being naive or whatever, I still don't think it is appropriate. The very same day I found out I was having my 2nd miscarriage in 4 months I had a woman ask me why I only had one child.  :-\\\\ You just never know what someone else is going through, or why their family is the way it is. And it is really never anyone's business, unless it is made clear, in the context of a friendship, that such questions are cool.

My sister-in-law got married six weeks after our big, elaborate, formal wedding. Hers was a quickie, hurried affair because she had found out she was pregnant. At the reception all of my (now ex) husband's family kept coming up to us asking when I was due! We left early to prevent from announcing over PA system that I wasn't the one knocked up, SHE was! I was so p*ssed off!

Another smart question: The day I came home from the hospital after giving birth, my (ex) father in law asked when we were planning on having another child. Hello, I couldn't even sit down without crying at that point. Even better someone else responded for me and said "well wait until the stitches heal to ask her that"  ::) :-[ I so wanted to ask him something equally as stupid and crude like did he have a problem with erectile disfunction!!! Ugghhhh please people, try to think it through before you say it out loud!!!  ;D
