Thanks for starting this thread, Stacey! There's not a lot that we need to get for the new baby, but there will be a few things, and these are some great ideas of where to start looking for things.
It can be really overwhelming picking out all of these things! We ended up going to a Babies R Us (in the US) and just wandering around for a while trying out all of the strollers, high chairs, etc.

I know in the US, there was a great book called "Baby Bargains" that I always recommend to people, as it gives reviews of brands and products and tells you where you can save money, but I'm not sure how much of it would also apply to the UK. I spent a lot of time reading reviews on amazon.com, so you might be able to do that for some of the products that you are looking at.
I agree with the people who say not to buy too much to start out with. If there are things like bouncers or swings that you want to get, see if you can borrow to try it out from someone you know. Ellen loved both, but I've known babies who hated swings, and then the parents were stuck with this big, expensive piece of equipment.
A friend got this cute little hat that reads, 'Made in Edinburgh' and a babygro that reads, 'Made in Scotland'.
Do you know where your friend got them from?
