Fiance Visa Questions......
« on: February 14, 2006, 03:59:48 PM »
Hi All,
         I just have a few questions regarding the Fiance Visa that I'm hoping the very well informed visitors to this forum can help us with. My Fiance is applying for a Visa to enter Northern Ireland so we can get married and continue our life together, I have sent her all of the paperwork we need to submit the application and my passport and she has completed the E-Fast Track online application and is getting the final pieces of her paperwork together to send in but we have one or two concerns. We would really like to get married towards the end of August but now, through this forum, realise that the Visa will be dated with the date of application and not the date of her entry to the UK which we originally thought. I will be going to bring her 'home' at the end of April, I will be flying out on the 24th and we will return on the 1st of May. We had been informed that Visa applications can take up to 6 weeks but on viewing most of the posts on this site we realise most seem to be processed from start to finish in about 2, we're just wondering what is the best action to take now, do we apply now and then move the wedding date to late July, a time when it will cost her family considerably more to travel or do we wait to apply until the start of March giving us a better shot at our original date, will it matter how long it is between our E-Fast track online application and the arrival of our paperwork to the Offices? We also need to make sure that she has my passport back in time for her to send it to me so I can travel on the 24th of April........ I really thought after stressing about getting all the paperwork together that the hard part was over but these questions make it just as stressful now  :)

I know there is a few questions in here but any help would be greatly appreciated......

I believe you can request for the visa to be post dated---but unfortunately I don't have exact information on that. Hopefully someone else can chime in.

you can ask for the visa to be post-dated by up to three months- so if she applied at the end of this month or early next month and got the visa dated for april then you could keep your August wedding date- just make sure you leave enough time for the FLR application which has to be sent by post or made in person after you get married but before her fiancee visa expires.
Now a triple citizen!

Student visa 9/06-->Int'l Grad Scheme 1/08-->FLR(M) 7/08-->ILR 6/10-->British citizenship 12/12

Thanks for the help folks, does anyone know exactly how we go about getting the visa post dated, we have already submitted the online application but have not sent all our paperwork in yet....... do you think we can enclose a letter requesting the date of the visa to be post dated or is there some kind of official route for this?

Cheers.

Just include a cover letter with the paperwork and request it on that.
