Question for those who applied from the US....
« on: February 19, 2006, 01:21:19 AM »
For those who applied for spouse/finance visas while being in the States.  I'm beginning to put my papers together and am wondering two things:

1.  Did you write a letter?  If so, what did you include in it?
2.  What did your spouse write in their letter?  Any ideas? I'm perplexed about it and my husband is trusting me to find out what he should write.

Thanks :)

There needs to be a letter from the sponsor stating that he intends to marry and support and house you.  I usually get clients to put a bit about where they met and a bit of personal stuff just to make it less formal.

This is a basic copy of what Chris and I have done for when we apply for his spouse visa in April 06, I hope it helps a bit.

If you are applying before us let us know how you get on.
good luck.

"I am submitting this letter of invitation in support of Mr        My husband along with his VAF2 application.
As set forth in the accompanying documents, I am a British citizen currently residing at. I initially met         on the internet we have known each other for   years and   months, we started a relationship in date  and first met in            for the first time date, and I was married to him on                    2006 in the USA. I will support him without recourse to public funds. I desire he be granted a spousal visa so we can return to the United Kingdom and live as a married couple in the UK.

Then about how you met and dates of when you came to UK or he came to the States, What you did

Pleased find enclosed supporting documents.

all i did with my application was type out a list of everything that was included in my package...and then i labeled each document with the corresponding number on the list (i'm a little bit anal i suppose).  but when i received everything back, I was able to check from the list what was returned and what wasn't.  they didn't return all of my documents....they kept 6 out of the 25 items that i sent.

I have a booklet/folder ready to send with letters from my fiance, letters and cards from his parents and family members,  bank statements from his parents and myself,  including letter of support if needed from his parents, original passports and birth certificates,  divorce papers for both of us, letter from him stating our intentions (same from me), photos of us together in the last 5 yrs, my CV, his work experience,  just waiting on the landlord letter, which Shirley H said was in  post!  Hope that is enough, if not, please VICTORIA OR GARRY  or anyone else who has been through this, tell me what else I need?
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort.

i think you have it all.  the only other things i included in my application were my two degree diplomas and reference letters from my last two employers.  i don't necessarily think you have to include those....but i figured the more i sent, the less reason they would have to refuse me.

i also included the advance marriage booking that i got from our local borough office stating the date and time we intended to get married....but seeing how you are already married, this wouldn't work for your case.  i'm thinking maybe your marriage certificate should be sent in with it instead...??

edited to say: sorry...i got Suzie and Uber_Yank confused.  Suzie:  if you can, i would get an advance booking from wherever you intend to register to marry.
