« on: March 02, 2006, 01:02:16 PM »
Hi,2 months ago i booked up a flight with e-bookers to see my girlfriend in Indiana so imaged my shock when she told me a couple of days ago that she has decided to go back with her ex.Ive contacted e-bookers about cancelling my flight when i was told that its Non Refundable!!! I'm speechless.i was meant to travel to chicago first and then a connecting flight to Indianapolis so could i just travel and stay in Chicago for a few nights and then fly back home?? I was meant to be going for 16 nights?? I'm so confused. Please help. Thanks Peter.

Peter, so sorry to hear this!  Can you call the airline directly and see if you can change the ticket?  There might be a fee to change the destination, but I know you can't just not show up for a flight or they will cancel the connecting part.  (This was told to my husband)

As we've discovered, most electronically booked fares are non-refundable unless you specifically pay more and ask for a refundable fare.  Ugh.

I would call the airline directly, as Stacey suggested. Tell them your story and perhaps they'll take pity on you and give you, at least, a partial refund. You never know. Failing that, do you have a friend or family member who's a doctor? I once got out of paying for a nonrefundable ticket by having someone write me a medical note. Not entirely ethical, but desperate times call for desperate measures!

Sorry B they won't even take that as a means for a refund..past experience with the likes of BA it has to be a death in order for a refund to be given.

Gonna give them a ring later,a friend has said he'll come to chicago with me for a few days holiday if e-bookers allow it. I guess its the price to pay for a long distance relationship, thanks everyone for the advice, means alot.

E-bookers is a flight consolidator..they have contracts with majoy airlines for certain fares and those fares do have high restrictions on them.

Good luck!

Hey, this has happened to me recently too. I paid for a ticket in January for my ex bf to come visit me, but we broke up three weeks ago, so obviously he's not coming (and still owes me half the cost of the ticket.)  We bought a non-refundable ticket (that's what I get for trusting the sorry bastard!) and I'm just swallowing the cost, basically.  It's painful, but there's really no way around it (especially since the ticket's not even in my name!)

Sorry to hear things have worked out this way for you :(
