Happy Shrove Tuesday -Pancake Day
« on: February 28, 2006, 09:10:19 AM »
I hope everyone is busy making pancakes, thinking about pancakes, buying pancakes or making pancakes. :-)

We had some lovely fluffy ones this morning with maple syrup and bacon. :-)  Normally I am a flat pancake/crepe person, but today I decided to crank up the baking powder.... lovely!

Here are some links to the history and all pancake goodness...

So let's sing, " Tippety-Tippety-tin; Give me a pancake and I'll come in.
Tippety-tippety-toe, Give me a pancake and then I'll go."

... or not being able to GET any pancakes - syrup especially - because EVERYONE is SOLD OUT  >:(

However...
Isn't it... ironic... ?
Isn't the concept of 'Shrove Tuesday/Pancake Day' all about the Catholics having to get RID of all their flour, eggs, etc.?
Yet all the adverts say "HAVE YOU STOCKED UP FOR PANCAKE DAY?"

Hmmm.  ;)

And BTW, does anyone else have the Alanis Morrissette song in their head? Thank you very much, Elizabeth.

But see, that's the beauty of being pagan.  I can do anything I damn well please as long as I'm not harming people deliberately.  :P
Maybe I'll go dance naked under a full moon with a bottle of syrup in my hand... you know, to... celebrate the... maple tree... SEE?!  I just created another pagan holiday.  [smiley=blank.gif]

(NB - I did have pancakes with AUNT JEMIMA SYRUP this past weekend... so do not mourn for me.)
