Congrats!  Must admit that I am a bit jealous though, I failed the first try... :(
Hopefully when I try again later in the month I'll pass as well!

Top Banana matey!

They do say - if you pass first time you are a 'driver' ! ;)  I passed first time as well, 5 lessons and took my test! felt great when he said that I've passed!

Not as good as one of my mates though, his dad taught him, he took his test on his actual 17th Bday and passed!!

enjoy !

Thanks to everyone for the well wishes!  I am so relieved to have it over, I am still thinking in the back of my mind about doing all of my driving maneuvers correctly, etc....  It is definitely a doable test in my opinion, one just has to really prepare and concentrate on it.  I found the  2Pass site helpful as well, it was interesting to see what kinds of faults were causing failures etc....

I celebrated last night, and maybe I will again tonight, lol!   ;D

and found out the routes, from the internet, that the examiners used for the test.

Where did you find those at?

Just click on the link, find the test centre you are going to use, and their will be a list of the test routes!

Thanks! I never would have thought they would list them on the DSA site! I thought they'd be like top secret, or something. ;)

Well done on your PASS. Be careful out there!

I took mine here(25) after having been driving since I wuz 8 (legal since 15). I could not fathom out the steering so I asked the instructor if he would fail me if I did hand over hand. He would not say, so I did hand over hand and I passed!! He later told me that he was looking to see if I was observant, legal and in control and posed no danger to myself or other road users. What you are taught are mostly guidelines (one exception- the "onehand on the wheel at all times" LAW). If you are new, he said they will see that you follow the guidelines pretty precisely. My son passed his first time but I know many who have taken the exam many many times and many £££'s lighter.

Regarding speed cameras (I have a cutting torch for anyone interested), seriously three (3) times over the years I have my picture taken(67 in a 60, 78 in a 70 and 35 in a 30).  They gave 3 points and 60 Lizzies each time. AND to add insult to injury the points stay on your license/licence for 3 years and your insurance premiums go up. In fact a lot of insurance companies won't take you on if you have 6 points!
They should only be used where pedestrians are at, ie towns and villages but dual carriage straight aways? Tayside actually put the cameras behind road signs and was proved to be using them only as a money earner but had to move them when the euro court ruled on the cameras, hence nowadays you should be able to know there is a camera ahead and see the camera from a distance (gives you time to straighten your hair or tie).

Any way that's my two cents or is that tuppence?

LOL! You'd get on so well with my BF!! He normally gives the finger whenever we pass a camera. And once we passed one that had been vandalised (set on fire). I seriously have never seen him so happy! ;D

Hey Belindaloo,

direct your BF to this site:

  http://www.speedcam.co.uk/index2.htm

I found this in one of the other forums and have just idled away 2 hours. He will be estatic when he sees the pics! I had never seen a vandalised speed camera until today.

btw what's your beau's handle (assuming you let him on the pc -lol)?

Reagarding the TEST ROUTES, I do find that strange that they are available.  But on thinking about, it won't help a lot, I mean you still have to be able to drive.

I feel for y'all down south. Trying to drive in London, Birminham, etc is bad enough when you KNOW to drive but trying to learn in heavy traffic...

I'll pass it onto him, but I have a feeling he's probably already seen it! He doesn't have a handle on this site I'm afraid, but is a regular lurker and sometime poster on www.pistonheads.com, so gets a lot of his auto-related links that way. If you're into cars, you might want to check it out!
