Help!
« on: March 09, 2006, 11:47:28 PM »
Okay, I am about to scream!  Nothing is going right in regards to my putting everything together for my spousal visa.
So, after my husband kept at his grandparents to call their lawyer (who holds the deed to their home) to get a letter, they finally did and the letter arrived today.  Problem?  The letter is dated 2003!?! WTF!
So, I called the Visa helpline and I was told that I could bring recent bills (utility, telephone, etc..) to show they still reside there.  So, knowing how helpful and accurate the Visa helpline is, I called two hours later and asked the same question.  That time I was told that I should get another letter that is dated recently.

So, my question to anyone who can answer is....Should I have my husband call the idiot lawyer to get a letter that is recently dated, or can I just bring the two bills (gas and telephone) to prove they still reside there.  This along with a letter from his granparents saying we can live there temporarily...is that enough?

I'm about to scream because my appointment is next week and my husband is about to FedEx overnight these documents, so I'd appreciate any help!

Personally, I'd go with the letter you have so you can make sure you get all the documents on time. Just explain to them that the letter was misdated and there was no time to get another so you called and were told to bring in something showing they still live there. I'm sure it will be fine.

It sucks that you get a different answer every time you call!
