Need some advice re: imigration is it possible? resources?
« on: March 04, 2006, 02:40:35 AM »
I have a guy in Scotland I have been involved with for about a year.  I really want to get into the country on a work visa or such but I have no idea what to do.  I hold no higher degrees or such that make me desirable for emmigration.  I don't want to marry for a green card, though I expect we will eventually marry.  What are my options.. what resources are there to help me.  I have money, not tons of it but enough to live off of for awhile and won't be "on the dole".

Any input, ideas, anything at all are appreciated....   ???

I guess I should add that I do live in the U.S.

Your options are a fiancee visa, a student visa or get sponsored for a work permit.  If you don't have enough qualifications for a work permit, it'll be a student visa or fiancee visa.  There are several recent threads relating to this topic.  Take a stroll through this section of the forum and see what's already been offered up.  :)  Good luck.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…
