Yum. Those look mighty dangerous, esp. around me! They remind me a bit of those crunchy spicy chickpea snacks you get in Indian food shops.  I can polish off a bag of those in no time with a couple beers...

Yup, I was always able to find it in the Indian spice shops in Rhode Island. But my father, in Louisiana, had nowhere to buy it. I used to have to buy in bulk and send him huge boxes of it!! I think it depends on where you are in the US -- if you're in an area with a large-ish Indian population, you'll find it.

YUM - Taj Mahal in Orland!  We definitely have to meet up if I get back to Frankfort before you come over to the UK!

There is a little Indian grocery on 159th between Route 45 and Harlem that will have it.  Granted it's not as easy as the Jewel but I would guess it's closer than Fox Valley for you?  Depends on how often you head east.

there are a few good ones in westmont--relatively close to work for me, too (i'm in willow springs). there's a really great one called cuisine of india up in des plaines. there's one in naperville, too.
