Fiance Visa to Student Visa
« on: March 09, 2006, 06:14:47 PM »

I am going  to be attending graduate school in London in the fall. The program does not start until October, so I can not get my student visa before July. I am planning on coming over in June for 2 months, then coming back to the States for a month and getting the student visa. Since I have read so many horror stories of people getting turned away should I get my fiance visa first? But then can I change that to a student visa? The problem is that we aren't getting married until January of 2007, so if I get a fiance visa for June don't I have to get married within 6 months?

Basically, can I get a fiance visa to get over there and get that changed to a student visa?

You don't need a student visa if you are here on a fiancee visa and plan to marry within 6 months.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…
