Lettings in Essex
« on: March 01, 2006, 07:43:02 PM »
Hey everyone! Just wanted to write up a quick post to see if anyone knew of any websites that had letting information in Essex?

The wifey and I are up in Brum right now, but I've been applying to jobs in London and have two interviews for Monday, so the closer to London we are...the better. The salaries down there are about 15k more than the salaries in the West Midlands.

We've checked out sites like fish4homes, but if there's anything else out there, I'd be thankful. ;D

What part of Essex are you looking in?  Findaproperty.com has listings for parts of Essex nearer to London.
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

I'd also look at www.rightmove.co.uk.

If you haven't found anything yet let me know. We live in in Essex just off the A13 past  the M25. My husband works in central london and does the commute everyday!  It isn't that bad really.  There are some parts to try and avoid. Depending on whether you want to drive in or not but we live just a down the street from the train station that has a direct route into London.

What part of Essex do you live in?  My husband and I would be looking for a small 2-up, 2-down or similar and I will probably be working in London, so good commuting possibilities are essential.  We just don't want to live closer to the city if we can help it.  I've been looking at Beds., but Essex is definitely workable as well.

We actually live in an area called Chafford Hundred near Grays, Essex. I actually quite enjoy the area. Its  relatively new- built up a lot in the past 10 years so most things are modern.  The area is pretty clean and well presentable. Its far enough out of the city so you aren't in London but close enough to go in for an evening out. Convienent too when people come to visit as they always want to go into London.   There is a huge shopping mall about a 10-15 minute walk from where we live. I actually work there so it has been quite convient. Not only that but the train station is just a 5-10 minute direct into London if you choose to take the train.  My husband drives into London though as we have a company car.  I really like this area and the shopping mall is a big plus!!  If you want any links or other info just let me know!

I know Essex is a large county and there are some not so nice areas (like a lot of places) but here are some of the good ones to consider for a commute into London (not inclusive of all).

Chalkwell
Leigh on Sea
Westcliff
Southend (western side)
Rayleigh
Benfleet

The furthest by train to Canary Wharf or the city of London (financial district) is approximately 45 mins.

I live just off the A12 in Tiptree, husband's office located in Hornchurch and he makes the drive each day.   We have several friends that hop on the train from either Hatfield Peverel and/or Kelvedon and make the London trip without any problems.   Definitely an easy journey and worth being that little bit "out" .    Good luck on your search!

We reside in Chelmsford, my Dh works in London near Bank.  He trains in for work, journey time is usually 35-40 minutes.

I was in Brentwood, 45 mins by slow train into Liverpool Street.  Shenfield is the next stop out and has fast trains that arrive to London in 20 mins.
