non-alcoholic grenadine?
« on: March 17, 2006, 11:03:31 PM »
Does anyone know where I can find non-alcoholic grenadine in the UK, if I even can?

My grandma used to make 'red bananas'..it had grenadine but we always used Rose's...which contains no alcohol. And Ive been told to make pink lemonade you use grenadine.

Grenadine isn't a liquor.

Grenadine isn't a liquor.

That is what I thought.  It is used to make Shirley Temples and Roy Rogers,  great kids drinks.

As I recall from the tequila sunrise era, it's a terrifying thing to throw up in quantity.

thats what  I thought but they said the one from waitrose has 3.5% alcohol.

It doesnt give me any info on sainsburys and tesco you have to have an account.

Wonder if the other site knew what they were talking about.

Just looked at DrinkShop.com... they show 3 different grenadines.
2 are non-alcoholic, and 1 is 3.5%.

You should be able to find the non-alc stuff here... i always just thought it was a cordial/syrup... am really surprised to find that some makes have alcohol in.

Does anyone know where I can find non-alcoholic grenadine in the UK, if I even can?

i've tried to look for it here as well (at sainsbury's)...but the only one i could find had alcohol in it...and it didn't taste anything like rose's.  i might be looking in the wrong section...but i figured it would be by the alcohol.

i haven't checked tesco's yet tho...but i will.  i'll let you know if i come across any.

i didn't know about the pomogranete syrup thing.  i've seen pomogranete juice...but not syrup.  where might the syrup be located in tesco/sainsbury's?

I doubt if Tesco or Sainsburys has it. Try a health food shop or an Indian or Middle Eastern grocer.

why dont you order it from drinkshop.com, as mentioned above?
Save you traipsing round all the shops only to find they havent got what you want!

I cant seem to get the right drinkshop.com...it goes to a swedish (I think) site...Ah ok found it! ;)

They have violett liquer...interesting...:P I dont usually drink when not pg and certainly not about to now! But could be interesting to try once baby is born and weaned...ie about 1 1/2 years from now, by then I will have forgotten all about it ;)

A bit expensive at £4.95 :/ Im not sure what it is in a grocery store here though so I cant really complain until I see what I've paid for it in the past. Obviously its cheaper here, with exchange and all...might be worth just lugging a bottle with me (already plan to bring over taco bell restaurant sauce...my cravings for taco bell style burritos are rather often ;))

Thanks for the help guys! :)
