so...you married while still on the tourist visa?  or did I miss something?
I was recently informed that this is not allowed and am  trying to check all angles

No, I spent a month in the UK in February, then we flew to the States together and stayed there for 3 months and married while we were there. I then applied for my spousal visa and we flew back to the UK.

aaahhh...I see.
I just didn't gather that from the way you wrote you orig reply, sorry.

I think R is coming back to the States w/me in early May...altho we are fairly serious already even at this early stage (going on one month now), we have not discussed the M word, just how to stay together once I have to return "home"
Well we'll just have to wait and see!

I moved in July of 2004
He came back with me in July of 2005 and stayed until the end of Aug 2005

I'm moving June 2006 for good :)

We'll be doing a legal ceremony in June, but not consider ourselves "properly" married until a church ceremony, which is a few years off. We've gotten lots of weird looks about doing it this way, but we don't want the distance, we'd like to have a proper wedding with family and friends and a honeymoon - and we'd like to take our time and do things on OUR watch instead of on someone elses timetable for a change - I couldn't be happier about it  ;D

I met my husband on a trip to London when I was actually seeing another British guy. This was about 2 weeks after September 11th.  Basically when I got to London the guy I was seeing said he had been seeing someone else for a few weeks  and that we were going to go out with her the next night. I said no we are not!!  We argued and fought and he left me stranded in London not knowing how to get around in a strange city. I booked myself into the first hotel I could find and found an internet cafe where I thought someone might help online. Most guys I met wanted something else.  This guy walked in and we started talking and he said he knew of someplace better and walked me back to my hotel. He didn't even come inside and gave me his phone number.  The next day he showed up and helped me get settled. The rest of my stay we hung out together. I thought he was a bit nerdy and I wasn't really interested in him.  He convinced me to stay another week and he took me to meet some of his friends.  When we parted we agreed that we really liked each other but that I wasn't really looking for anything since I had just come out of a relationship.

So after those 2 weeks
He came to visit for 2 weeks christmas 2001
I flew over for 1 week February 2002
He flew over  for 4 days March/April 2002
He flew over for 3 days in May 2002
I flew over for 1 week May/June 2002
He came over August 2002 for 1 week
I flew over for 2 weeks Sept 2002
He came over Nov 2002 I flew back with him and stayed for 4 1/2 months Proposed beginning of April 2003
He flew over June/July 2003 for 1 week
I flew over August 2003 for 1 week
He came over beginning of October 2002 and we got married.
He left a week after our wedding to go back to England.
November 2003 received spousal visa and flew to London
October 2005 received ILR

some personal questions...answer at your own discretion...just curious.

How long did you and your brit hubby date before deciding to get married?

How long did you date long distance before doing so?

What was the longest time apart you spent away from your future hubby?

Well, my fiance isn't British, but I'll answer anyway ;)  He and I dated 7 months before we were engaged.  We were long distance for 5 of those 7 months, with a one week visit thrown in the middle.  And it was terribly hard, but we talked on the phone or via web cam everyday!
